Weekly Words of Wisdom

"One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon—instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today."

Light a candle...

I was reading this morning an old Chinese proverb; "better to light one small candle than to curse the darkness." Too often, we Christians stand around cursing the darkness that surrounds us rather than lighting a candle and bringing light to the situation. The Bible tells us to "let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven" (Matt 5:16). So where ever you are, shine some light today. This world of darkness needs it, and it will bring glory to God.

Health Care Reform

It doesn't really matter to me if you call it "health care reform" or "health insurance reform," my position is that Congress has no authority to mess with it. You can check out the letter that I sent to my congressman here.

People like me are getting fed up with the government trying to intrude more and more into our lives. Our precious liberties are being stripped away, not by invading hoards, but by our elected whores. Our so-called leaders are leading us down the path to socialism - the path to total servitude and serfdom. I will not go down that path.

For those of you government snitches who want to turn me in to the White House list of dissenters, just make sure you spell the name right: Larry Hagen.

Weekly Words of Wisdom

After spending some time vacationing with my kids and my wife the past two weeks, this quote seemed very appropriate:

"Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer, since to remain constantly at work will cause you to lose power of judgment. Go some distance away, because then the work appears smaller, and more of it can be taken in at a glance, and lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen."
- Leonardo da Vinci
